What Is IPL + Laser Treatment?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser treatments use targeted wavelengths of light to address skin concerns at depths that creams and serums can't reach. The light is absorbed by specific targets in your skin (pigment, redness, broken blood vessels, sun damage) without affecting the surrounding tissue. Your body then processes out what's been treated, leaving clearer, brighter, more even skin behind.

At Mint, IPL and laser treatments are most commonly used for overall skin rejuvenation, sun damage and brown spots, broken capillaries and fine red lines, redness and rosacea, and uneven skin tone. Both face and body can be treated.

Topicals Can Only Do So Much. Light Goes Deeper.

You've been using vitamin C, retinol, and SPF religiously. Your tone is still uneven. There are still sun spots from summers you barely remember. Tiny broken vessels on your nose and cheeks. Redness that doesn't go away. Your skin care routine is doing what it can, but some things sit too deep for topicals to reach.

IPL and laser treatments work below the surface. The light targets the pigment or vessels you can see, and your body breaks them down and clears them out. The result is skin that actually looks even, not just skin you can cover with makeup.

How We Do IPL + Laser Treatments at Mint

Step one | Book your aesthetic consult

A real conversation about what you want to fix, what your skin has tolerated before, and what's actually going to work. Skin type, tone, and history all factor into which treatment we recommend.

Step two | Get a real facial analysis.

Sometimes it's a full-face IPL for overall rejuvenation. Sometimes it's targeted laser on specific spots, vessels, or areas of redness. Your aesthetician will recommend the right treatment, energy setting, and number of sessions based on your skin.

Step three | Get Even, Glowing Skin

Pigment and redness lift over the following 1 to 2 weeks. Most patients benefit from a series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for optimal results.

Who IPL + Laser Treatment Is For

IPL and laser treatments at Mint are for adults with:

  • Sun damage and brown spots (melasma, age spots, freckles)

  • Uneven skin tone or dull complexion

  • Broken capillaries and fine red lines (face, chest, legs)

  • Redness, flushing, and rosacea

  • Diffuse facial redness that comes back no matter what

  • Hyperpigmentation from old acne scars or sun exposure

  • Photoaging and accumulated sun damage

  • Patients wanting overall skin rejuvenation between bigger treatments

  • Adults investing in long-term skin health

IPL is best suited for fair to medium skin tones. For darker skin tones, we'll recommend laser options designed to be safe for melanin-rich skin instead. Your aesthetician will assess and recommend the right tool for your skin during your consult.

More About IPL + Laser Treatment at Mint

Mint Aesthetics + Wellness offers IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and medical laser skin treatments at our Bettendorf, Iowa clinic. IPL and laser treatments use targeted wavelengths of light energy to address specific skin concerns at depths beyond what topical products can reach. The light is absorbed by particular targets in the skin (melanin in pigmentation, hemoglobin in vessels and redness) and triggers the body to break down and clear what's been treated.
