What Is Medically Supervised Weight Loss?
Medical weight loss uses prescription medications, biometric tracking, and provider oversight to help your body lose weight that diet and exercise alone aren't moving. At Mint, that usually involves GLP-1 medications (like semaglutide or tirzepatide), microdosing protocols, and hormone optimization where it's needed.
The tracking is what makes it work. We use the InBody scale at every visit to see what's actually happening: fat loss, muscle maintenance or gain, and signs of inflammation or strain on the body. Losing 10 pounds of muscle isn't a win, and we make sure it doesn't happen.
Labs come in when symptoms point to a deeper cause, like hormone imbalance or insulin resistance. When they're the right tool, we run them. When they're not, we don't waste your time.
PNOE and PNOE RER testing show us exactly how your body processes food as fuel. That tells us the specific workouts, foods, and lifestyle practices (sauna, sleep, stress management) that give you the best results with the least effort. We work with your body's predisposition, not against it.
This is not a random program. Every treatment plan is built around what your labs and your body are telling us.
You're Not Lazy. You Just Had The Wrong Plan.
You eat clean. You move your body. You've tried keto, intermittent fasting, calorie counting, and that 30-day program your friend swore by. The scale won't move, or it moves and comes right back. You feel inflamed, exhausted, and frustrated. You wonder if something is broken.
Probably not broken. Probably not being heard.
Most people stuck on the same weight have hormone imbalance, insulin resistance, sluggish thyroid, chronic inflammation, or a metabolism that's slowed for reasons no one has actually looked at. When you sit with our Medical Director or Nurse Practitioner, the first thing that happens is a real conversation. Your symptoms, your history, your patterns. Combined with biometric analysis on the InBody scale, that's usually enough to build your plan.
When GLP-1s are the right tool, we use them for what they actually do best: turn down the food noise. The constant chatter telling you to stop at a fast food joint or finish your kid's Halloween candy. Once that noise quiets, the healthy choices you've been trying to make get a lot easier.
How We Do Medical Weight Loss at Mint
Step one | Book your wellness consult
A real conversation about your weight history, eating, sleep, training, stress, and hormones. Based on what comes up, your provider may order labs to check underlying imbalances or anything else that could be getting in your way.
Step two | find the root cause
Every patient gets biometric analysis with the InBody scale so we see what's actually happening: fat mass, muscle mass, hydration, and signs of inflammation. If labs were ordered, your provider walks you through the results. Now we know what we're working with.
Step three | Start your personalized Treatment Plan
Loading-dose GLP-1, microdosing for inflammation and metabolic support, or a combined treatment plan with peptides and hormone optimization, depending on what your body needs.
Who Medical Weight Loss Is For
This program is for adults who:
Have tried diet and exercise without sustained results
Have 20+ pounds to lose, or stubborn fat that won't budge

Have insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, or other metabolic markers off

What Our Patients Actually Say
Weight Loss Built on Labs, Not on Guilt
Mint runs medical weight loss the way it should be run: with labs, with biometric tracking, and with a provider who actually knows your story. Dr. Sanjay Sundar, MD and Rachel Sundar, RN built this protocol because they were tired of watching people get prescribed GLP-1s without anyone running their hormones, tracking their muscle mass, or planning for what happens when they come off.
We design weight loss as a long game. The medication is one part of it. Your hormones, your sleep, your training, your nutrition, and your maintenance plan are the rest of it. Rachel walks through weight loss medications openly on the Ask Nurse Rachel YouTube channel if you want to hear how it really works.

More About Medical Weight Loss at Mint
Mint Aesthetics + Wellness offers medically supervised weight loss in Bettendorf, Iowa, with virtual wellness appointments available for patients across Iowa and Illinois. Mint's weight loss program is physician-led and built around comprehensive lab testing, biometric analysis through the InBody scale, and provider oversight at every dose adjustment.

The Mint weight loss program uses GLP-1 receptor agonist medications (commonly semaglutide, retatrutide and tirzepatide), microdosing protocols, and supporting peptide and hormone therapies where clinically indicated. GLP-1 medications work by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone that regulates appetite, insulin response, and digestion. Microdosing offers a more affordable long-term option for inflammation management, metabolic support, and sustained weight maintenance, and is often the bridge that helps patients keep weight off after a loading-dose phase.
Every weight loss plan at Mint begins with a wellness consult, comprehensive labs including hormones, thyroid, insulin, inflammation markers, and lipids, and an InBody biometric scan. The InBody tracks muscle mass, hydration, and body fat percentage at every visit, giving the provider and patient a clear picture of what kind of weight is being lost. The goal is fat loss with muscle preservation, not just a lower number on the scale.
Medication pricing typically runs around $200 per month depending on dose, with initial loading doses often less expensive. Microdosing protocols are available for patients seeking long-term inflammation management and weight maintenance. The initial wellness consult is $125, and follow-ups are $50.
The Mint clinical team is led by Dr. Sanjay Sundar, MD (Medical Director) and Rachel Sundar, RN (Founder), with Nurse Practitioner Nikki Goff, DNP, office manager Brooke Tucker, and aesthetician Lori Caruso. Mint serves Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, East Moline, Eldridge, LeClaire, Walcott, Silvis, Colona, Milan, Muscatine, Clinton, Iowa City, Aledo, Cambridge, Kewanee, Geneseo, and the surrounding Quad Cities region, with secure virtual wellness care nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Not if your protocol includes a maintenance plan. We use microdosing, peptide support, hormone optimization, and lifestyle planning to keep the weight off after the loading phase. That's the difference between our program and a clinic that just writes the script.
-
When monitored by a physician with regular labs and biometric tracking, GLP-1 medications have a well-established safety profile. The risks show up when patients are prescribed without follow-up, without lab work, and without a plan for what happens after.
-
Most patients lose 5 to 15% of body weight in the first 3 months. Some lose faster, some slower. The goal is steady, sustainable fat loss with muscle preservation, which is exactly what we track with the InBody.
-
Not if we manage it correctly. We track muscle mass at every visit through the InBody scan. If muscle starts dropping, we adjust the protocol with peptide support and resistance training guidance.
-
Yes. Most of the program runs by phone or Zoom. InBody scans require an in-person visit, but those are quarterly or as needed.
-
Microdosing uses very low doses of GLP-1 medications for benefits beyond aggressive weight loss, including inflammation reduction, metabolic support, and long-term weight maintenance. It's often a more affordable, sustainable option for patients in the maintenance phase or those who don't need rapid weight loss.
-
Yes, and most of our patients do. Hormone imbalances are often the reason weight loss has stalled, so we treat both together.
